A report  on the future of Faversham Creek titled "Developing proposals and future planning policy options to deliver regeneration of the Creek area" was published by Swale Borough Council in November. The document is now being put out for a final consultation period, a last chance for people to comment on plans for the creek before their formal publication later this year. Comments must be received by June 24.

Faversham Creek Trust members have posted an urgent message on their website, reading as follows:

The window for responses to the consultation on Faversham Creek will close on Friday (June 24). Please do take the opportunity to write to Swale Borough Council with your views about the future of the Creek.

Should the basin be opened and used by craft; should there be more residential development on the creekside; should maritime industry and training be developed?

Should access to the creekside be improved, and the creek become part of the town?

What facilities would you expect to see by the creek; moorings, repair yard, with lifting and storage; a public launch slip?

Should the creek be maintained at a depth that will allow craft to more easily use it and access the basin?

How do you imagine Standard Quay developing in the future?

See standardquay.com for more ideas.

Tell them while you have the chance…
