Faversham voters stayed loyal to old allegiances in yesterday’s (May 5) Swale Borough Council elections, returning nine Conservatives and one Liberal-Democrat to the 10 seats that represent Faversham on the 47-seat council.

Nine Faversham councillors retained their seats, the only new face being St Ann’s ward candidate John Coulter. He replaces fellow Conservative Mark Baldock, who did not seek re-election.

All 47 seats of the borough council were elected at the same time, with the Conservative group comfortably retaining control. The composition of the new borough council is: 32 Conservatives (down one), 13 Labour (up three), one Liberal Democrat (down two) and one independent (same).

Davington reppresentative Mike Henderson is now the sole Liberal Democrat on the council.
