Faversham woke up to a scattering of snow this morning but there's a whole heap more heading our way according to the Met Office, which has issued severe-weather warnings for today and tomorrow (Saturday February 4 and Sunday February 5).

The experts predict snow will fall overnight to a depth of 5 to 10 centimetres, followed by rain or sleet. As the clouds clear, temperatures will drop, with widespread icy patches forming.

Services, travel, schools

Kent County Council has put together a useful winter service information page – and it has a handy page where you can check school closures: http://www.kentclosures.co.uk/master.php

Roads: You can find KCC Highways (@KentHighways) and the Highways Agency (@Highways_Agency) updates on Twitter

Rail: Southeastern running information is also on Twitter (@Se_Railway), with more line and service updates on its website.

And even Swale Council seems to be on the case: the authority is a reluctant Twitter user, but yesterday tweeted: "Bad weather is currently forecast for Saturday and Sunday. If bad weather does affect any of our services find out here: http://www.swale.gov.uk/snow"
