Faversham photo project's magic dinner is a success

Magician Etienne Pradier performed on Friday (June 3) in Faversham as part of the first fundraising event held by Kent Creative Arts, the organisers of the Year in the Life projects.

The event – fully booked - was a dinner held at the Creek Creative gallery in Faversham, with 54 guests enjoying a three-course meal prepared by Joel Ely while Etienne went from table to table performing magic tricks that left guests amazed.

The magic dinner was the first of a series of events Kent Creative Arts are holding in the next few months to raise funds for the A Year in the Life projects, currently run in Canterbury, Faversham and on the Isle of Sheppey.

More events on the way

Further fundraisers will include a jazz concert at Faversham's Arden Theatre with award-winning singer Christine Tobin in September and a talk by top wildlife photographer Steve Bloom at the Canterbury Cathedral Lodge in October. There will be a lot more to come, to be announced soon.

A Year in the Life

A Year in the Life is a community project aiming to record life in Canterbury, Faversham and Sheppey throughout 2011 in 365 photographs, one for each day, taken by the residents. This unique project, already run in Faversham last year and celebrated at a successful exhibition in September, will show the different views, styles and feelings each photographer contributes, with photos of people, events, places etc that they come across in their daily lives. The project also spotlights things that often go unseen too, activities that not everyone notices or gets a chance to see, thereby creating a diary for today and a record for the future.
