Big Lunch at West Faversham Community Centre on Sunday

A Big Lunch will mark the launch of Davington Church's children's summer scheme on Sunday (June 5) with lots of family fun at the West Faversham Community Centre in Bysing Wood Road.

There will be a free ploughman's lunch beginning at 1pm, with entertainment from the circus-skills group Juggle It All and a karaoke.

Summer-scheme events

• Outings and events include a free coach trip for younger or additional-need children to the Rare Breeds Centre at Woodchurch on Friday July 29. There is a returnable deposit of £5 per family;

• on Friday August 5 there will be a make-a-film/arts day;

• on Friday August 12 there is an Olympic day with a visit from Faversham MP Hugh Robertson, who is the Minister for Sport and the Olympics;

• the last event will be a party day on Friday August 26 when the film will be shown and there will be a eight-piece group, Way Out.

What's the Big Lunch all about?

The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many people as possible across the UK to have lunch with their neighbours in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. This year's is on Sunday (June 5) and a record number of people are expected to take part.

A Big Lunch can be anything from a few neighbours getting together in the garden or on the street to a full-blown party with food, music and decoration that stops the traffic.

Since its start in 2009, thousands of Big Lunches have taken place in all kinds of communities across the UK and the best part of a million people get involved each year.
